What is MeRT
Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy (MeRT) is a targeted treatment aimed to restore brain function and facilitate optimization.
MeRT stands for Magnetic e-Resonance Therapy. MeRT treatment combines the technologies of repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS, an FDA cleared therapy), Quantitative Electroencephalogram (qEEG), and Electrocardiogram (EKG) to deliver treatments tailored to each individual’s unique brain pattern.
Balance Your Brain and Restore Function
MeRT is used to reprogram dysfunctional electrical signals in the brain to modify behavior and restore function. Our detailed brain scans are analyzed to understand the brain’s pattern of function, detect any possible abnormalities, and determine its state of optimal neural synchronization. The resulting information is used to develop a personalized treatment protocol for each patient, aimed at returning the brain to its ideal state. This can lead to significant clinical improvements.

“What we’ve learned is that everyone has a unique frequency or unique signature.”
“All of us during our wakeful hours, [has] something called an Alpha frequency where our brain most comfortably operates. It’s a cycle rate where we’re all somewhere between 8 and 13 Hertz. And you might be, for example, an 11.4 Hertz brain. I might be an 8.9 Hertz brain. And somebody else might be a 10.3 Hertz brain. It’s just kind of where we’re born.”
“But when we get these brain images, whether it’s through the physical trauma of a blast injury, or the chemical trauma of years of drug use, or the emotional trauma of seeing a loved one pass away, we may find areas of the brain that are not cycling at the same rate as the rest of our cortex area that’s not working properly and try to stimulate it and remind it that it wants to fire at a certain frequency and a certain rate.”
“Trauma is not just an internal, ethereal, emotional thing – but there’s actual parts of the brain where you can see that it actually had an impact. EEG’s, or electrical images of the brain, can tell us when there are abnormalities in neural networks – we can see for example if nobody has an area in the left prefrontal cortex that is cycling at 2 Hertz which means that part of the brain may only be processing information at a rate of 2 times/ second whereas the rest of your brain may be cycling at 11 Hertz or 11 times/second which means that information mismatch may manifest for someone as depression, they may lack motivation, feel lethargic, not want to get out of bed, but in a different scenario it may manifest as anxiety. Nobody has a perfect brain, for the most part we can look at these signals and find areas that are abnormal, and navigate to the area that’s not working properly, try to stimulate it, and again remind it that it wants to fire at a certain frequency and at a certain rate.”

What does MeRT treat?
The human brain contains approximately 100 billion neurons, through electrical oscillations, or brain waves, the neurons control how the brain functions. Internal or external forces can disrupt normal brain wave activity, resulting in brain dysfunction.
The following are the most common diagnoses treated by MeRT
- Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) / Post-Concussive Syndrome (PCS)
- Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) / Complex PTSD
- Major Depressive Disorder (MDD)
- Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD)

The MeRT Process
The MeRT Process starts with a complimentary in-person or phone consultation to discuss details and answer any preliminary questions, we then follow the process below:
EVALUATION
First, we will perform a q-EEG and an EKG. These diagnostic tests are used to determine your brain’s specific pattern of frequencies and its brain-heart coherence. Once this has been done, our scientists and physicians will interpret and analyze the results to determine how treatment could impact your brain. https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/
ANALYSIS AND PROTOCOL
We use a scientific and patented approach with the data gathered from testing to develop a tailored treatment plan for each individual with the goal of restoring function and brain communication.
MERT TREATMENT
Once your treatment protocols are in place, you will come to therapy 5 days a week for a total of 6+ weeks. All that is needed from you is to sit in a comfortable chair while a highly-trained Neuro Technician places a magnetic coil on your head. This device produces a low-frequency magnetic field to induce mild electrical signals in the targeted areas of the brain. Time spent in the chair is typically 30-35 minutes. The stimulation occurs for 5 seconds followed by a rest period of 28-45 seconds. You will be required to close your eyes during the 5 second periods that the magnet is being used.
PROGRESS EVALUATION
An additional qEEG and EKG will be performed after two weeks of treatment to allow us to track your progress and make any needed modifications. You will then have another medical appointment with a physician to discuss progress.
We also monitor your progress throughout your daily treatments by asking a series of daily questions that measure mood and progress while keeping track of your treatment goals. To achieve optimal success results from MeRT, most conditions require 6-8 weeks of treatment. Specific treatment protocols, program expectations, and expected duration of care will be discussed with the physician. Results are based on strict compliance with our treatment regimens. Results may vary based on each individual and are not guaranteed. Currently, MeRT is FDA approved to treat Major Depressive Disorder and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Treatment for other conditions is considered “off label” at this time, although we do anticipate FDA approval soon for Traumatic Brain Injury (TBI) and Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). Numerous studies have shown the effectiveness of MeRT treatment on various conditions and research is ongoing.
